  • Where are you going my little one? Where are you going, my baby my own?
Turn around and you're two, turn around and you're four, turn around and you're a young man going out of the door.

Where are you going, my little one? Pigtails & petticoats, where have you gone?
Turn around and you're tiny, turn around and you're grown, turn around and you're a young wife with babes of your own.

I *heart* you | Bowling Green, KY Photographer

I just finished taping heart-shaped lollipops to about 125 Star Wars valentines. Okay, maybe it wasn’t *quite* that many. I also wrapped a box in shiny red paper and cut a hole in it to serve as a valentine mailbox. I haven’t done valentines since I was in elementary school! It brings back memories.
In case you didn’t know, it is also National Random Act of Kindness Week. My son’s school is encouraging them to perform a RAK each day to celebrate. In the process of bagging up conversation hearts for the teachers, (I ran out of suckers. Well, there’s one left, but it’s mine!) I came across one that illustrates the theme of both RAK Week and Valentine’s day perfectly. It is something I hope to teach my children. I am still learning it myself…

Think of what the world would be like if we each made it a point to perform just 1 RAK each day of our lives. Something as insignificant to you as letting someone out into traffic can make a big difference in that person’s day. Give it a try! What goes around comes back, as a family friend says, and you just might find that you’ve been RAK’d yourself.

Splish Splash | Bowling Green, KY Children’s Photographer

I guess all kids love splashing in the tub, & Miss G is no exception. Now that she can take baths in the “big girl tub,” she is free to splash to her heart’s content.

Kick the Can | Franklin, KY Children’s Photographer

I came across this picture from summer before last while sorting through my digital files. It made me smile. I think it is the picture that should be in the dictionary beside the entry for “little boy.”

I had taken M & G (still a tiny baby) to the park with my mom & grandmother. With a whole park full of slides, swings, monkey bars, & jungle gyms, M homed right in on an old can someone had left lying there and had a blast kicking it around the park. One man’s trash is a little boy’s treasure…

Ice Storm | Franklin, KY Photographer

As most everyone knows by now, Kentucky was hit by a massive ice storm this week, knocking out power for over a million people. We were lucky here in south central Kentucky – we only got a little ice followed by lots of rain. Our ice melted enough with the rain to save most of our trees and power lines. After several gray days, the sun came out this morning and backlit the ice still left on our trees, making them look like they were made of glass. It was a beautiful sight, but not nearly worth all the destruction the storm has caused.
